Dictionary Project

A forever dictionary for area students.

It’s all about the kids! Rutland South Rotarians (Matt Getty with wife Holly and Jill Vitagliano) were at Rutland Town School for Project Dictionary, distributing dictionaries to the 3rd grade classes of Mrs. Swinyer-Esposito, Mrs. Quigley, and Mrs. Prozzo. Without those of you who support events like our upcoming fundraising raffle we could not do events like Project Dictionary.

The Key to Unlocking Learning

A lifelong love of reading comes, in part, from unlocking the power of words. Invisible concepts exists in our midst but we only see them when they have a name. That is where dictionaries enter. They are the skeleton key that unlocks all other books.

The Perfect First Book

That is why we donate dictionaries to area 3rd graders (RTS, RIS, NE, NW, RACS, Christ the King…). Each child receives a dictionary that is there’s forever.  We show them how to use a dictionary and all the cool stuff inside.  For some kids, it’s the only book they’ve ever owned! It is the perfect first book for every library.
